Stronger CA Statement on Proposed Insurance Regulations
“As we review the proposed regulations, we want to ensure they are grounded in the latest science and technology, support increased access to comprehensive property coverage in wildfire zones and have been shown to reduce risk at the individual property and community levels.
We wholeheartedly support the Insurance Commissioner’s goal to send a strong signal to consumers about the need to better prepare for extreme wildfires. It is more vital than ever for consumers to mitigate their properties and financially prepare for wildfires, especially given the persistent rebuilding delays and inflationary cost pressures that make recovery more difficult.
Insurers have long advocated for similar mitigation steps recommended in the Safer from Wildfires framework. We look forward to continuing to work with the California Department of Insurance to better prepare Californians and mitigate damage from extreme wildfires.”
